The Poster Fair is not just an event – it’s a vibrant celebration that bridges the gap between exceptional design and its audience.
This year, the Winter Poster Fair 2024 will unfold on Sunday, December 15, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the historic Bracia Jabłkowscy Department Store in Warsaw – a perfect backdrop for a gathering of creativity and inspiration.
The story of posters in Poland traces back to the 1990s, when teenagers across the country eagerly collected posters from BRAVO magazine. This passion for poster art took a significant turn in 2009 when Karolina and Gosia, fresh from their studies, decided to introduce Don’t Panic cultural envelopes to Poland. This innovative British publisher became a champion for artists, offering them a unique platform on fold-out posters distributed within these envelopes. Renowned contributors, including Banksy, Smit, Buff Monster, and David Shrigley, showcased their works, elevating the visibility of contemporary art.
From 2010 to 2015, these envelopes also featured an array of talented Polish artists, such as NAWER, Otecki, Sainer, and Bezt from ETAM Cru, along with the iconic WILQ Superbohater. The inaugural Poster Fair in 2012 marked a turning point, as a group of illustrators organized a sale of collectible posters. What started as an intimate gathering soon blossomed into a beloved recurring event, moving from Kraków to Warsaw and attracting thousands of poster enthusiasts and large-format illustration lovers.
Today, the Poster Fair has become a cornerstone of Warsaw’s cultural scene, bringing together top graphic designers, illustrators, and poster galleries. This annual event contributes significantly to the revival of poster art in Poland, offering attendees an immersive aesthetic experience filled with engaging discussions and invaluable networking opportunities.
Visitors to the fair can look forward to an impressive lineup of exhibitors, with over 100 participants showcasing their work across several floors of the Bracia Jabłkowscy Department Store. The day promises eight hours of unique aesthetic experiences, captivating conversations, and the chance to forge new connections. Guests can expect a feast of inspiration, delightful surprises, and unforgettable moments.
This is a perfect opportunity for art enthusiasts to embark on an aesthetic journey, discovering original holiday gifts or unique decorations for their homes and offices. It’s going to be a day full of creativity, culture, and community!
PS yes, pets are welcome too!
