This Sunday, March 29, one of Warsaw’s most heartfelt community events returns to the leafy surroundings of Park Morskie Oko. From 11:00 to 15:00, residents are invited to meet animals looking for homes during the first open-air edition this year of Adoptuj Warszawiaka, organised by Schronisko na Paluchu im. Jana Lityńskiego.
Free to attend and open to all, the event offers something simple yet powerful: the chance to change a life.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet dogs currently in the shelter’s care, accompanied by the volunteers who know them best. These aren’t just quick encounters—staff and volunteers will share insights into each animal’s temperament, needs, and readiness for adoption.
At the heart of this edition is Felek, a 14-year-old German Shepherd and the symbolic face of the event. After years spent chained and the last eight in the shelter, Felek represents both resilience and the quiet urgency of senior dog adoption. Calm and gentle, he’s looking for a peaceful home where he can finally rest and trust.
Between 11:00 and 15:00, dog owners can take advantage of free microchipping, including registration in the Safe Animal database. To participate, bring your dog’s health booklet with a valid rabies vaccination and an ID.
The event also includes a dedicated #kotwarszawiak zone—a space showcasing cats available for adoption, along with guidance on feline care and the adoption process.
Families can head to a children’s educational area designed to teach responsible pet care through play, while adults can learn more about volunteering opportunities and ways to support the shelter beyond adoption.
Organisers are also inviting those who have already adopted pets to stop by with their animals. It’s a chance to share stories, offer encouragement, and show what happens after adoption—the part that matters most.
Over the years, Adoptuj Warszawiaka has grown into something bigger than an event. It’s a meeting point between people and animals, but also between intention and action.
And sometimes, that action begins with a walk in the park.
