The proud parents of the newborn giraffe are Malawi and Karim. The entire pregnancy, which typically lasts around 450 days for giraffes, went smoothly without any complications. After a two-hour labor, Malawi embraced her new role as a mother immediately and began caring for her son. Unlike his older sister, this little male doesn’t require supplemental feeding—Malawi has been nurturing him right from the start!
Incredibly, the baby giraffe took his first steps just an hour after birth and began nursing within the next hour. Already standing at nearly two meters tall, he is thriving, with his health deemed excellent by the zoo’s caretakers.
For now, the young giraffe remains under his mother’s watchful care, while the rest of the herd gets acquainted with him from behind the barriers. Soon, the zoo plans to introduce him to the outdoor enclosure, where visitors will have the chance to see him up close. Although he doesn’t have a name yet, Warsaw Zoo will soon hold a public vote to choose one!
