Grzybowska 4
An intimate alcove sparingly decorated with a map of Argentina and a miniature Argentine flag, the empanadas here have earned a place in legend. Praised for their authenticity by the city’s South American population, these pasty-like pockets of flaky goodness come with a variety of stuffings, among them Argentine beef with Malbec, and the equally fantastic pork and mango sauce. Follow-up with Alfajores cookies filled with dulce de leche.
Jana Pawła 41A
Tight, narrow and even a little dingey, the non-standard menu features curry rolls wrapped in delicious parathas, crispy fried puffs and pungent tawas. The experience is enhanced by this spot’s busy, clattery atmosphere. The Bollywood beats just about drown out the sound of gossiping Indian food couriers – but they’re not here to collect food for delivery, here on their breaktime to eat it themselves. That says all there is to say.
Poznańska 26
Carrying the atmosphere of a busy taqueria, a fair degree of chaos reigns with unruly queues, beeping table buzzers, loud groups and even louder music. Yet despite the racket Senor Lucas remains a deeply enjoyable experience, and that’s directly attributed to brick-like burritos, tacos and rolled quesadillas filled with lots of juicy flavour contrasts. This is one of Warsaw’s favourite Mexican treasures, and for good reason.
