When summer hits Warsaw, it’s time for the city’s cultural pulse to quicken, thanks to Lato Konesera. Hosted by Centrum Praskie Koneser, this festival is a playground for art enthusiasts, theater buffs, and cinephiles alike. The lineup is brimming with events that promise to entertain, engage, and enchant, making it a must-visit for expats and locals alike.
At the heart of the festival is the Warsaw Storytellers Festival, a new addition that promises to be a highlight. Co-organized with the Newhomers publishing house and the popular Warsaw enthusiast Łukasz Ostoja-Kasprzycki, this event series turns the city into a living, breathing narrative. In all there is a series of six captivating meetings that showcase the creative energy of Warsaw’s finest storytellers. Other sessions feature notable personalities like Łukasz “Juras” Jurkowski, Mariusz Szczygieł, and representatives from three generations of Warsaw’s rap scene.
Art lovers won’t be disappointed either. The Biennale Sculpture Laboratory at ToTuart runs from July 2 to August 31, and the Fantastic Art Exhibition at the Museum of Fantastic Art promises to be a visual feast.
Music enthusiasts are in for a treat with free piano concerts by Kirył Keduk on July 11 and Radosław Sobczak on July 25, while dance aficionados can join the popular #ChodźPotańczyć classes led by Swing Step on various dates throughout the summer. If cinema is your passion, the PepsiCo Summer Cinema, in partnership with Gutek Film, offers a stellar lineup of films. Catch Piosenki o miłości on July 12 or the critically acclaimed Parasite on August 9. Other screenings include Dream Scenario, C’mon C’mon, and Anette.
For theater lovers, the Krystyna Janda Foundation for Culture brings performances by Teatr Polonia and Och-Teatr to the outdoor stage. The lineup includes six performances, with the fairy tale Jaś i Małgosia inaugurating the series on July 1. Other notable performances include Starość Jest Piękna and Czerwony Kapturek. These free shows are a testament to the festival’s commitment to accessible culture.
One of the major highlights coinciding with Lato Konesera is the opening of Kleks. Magia Kina, an interactive space dedicated to the beloved world of Akademia Pana Kleksa. This attraction opens on July 8 and features a series of meet-and-greet events with favorite characters throughout the summer, including Tosia Litwiniak, Igor Fernandez-Kowalczyk, Jana Jachimek, and Daniel Walasek.
