Best of Warsaw – Restaurant Design Best of Warsaw – Restaurant Design

The Insider holds its annual Best of Warsaw food & drink awards on Tuesday – we already know the winners, but we’re not letting that secret out of its little envelope till the big night itself. But in preview, who do you reckon for Best Restaurant Design… Anything we’ve missed?

Concept 13

Last year’s title holder still impresses with its sleek design and rooftop views. You feel like a millionaire just by sitting there looking at it all – but has Warsaw moved on?

Sensitive restoration has maintained original friezes and reliefs from the time this was the address of the inter-war Soviet Embassy. Other touches number lighting by Serge Mouille, lavish 1950s chairs from Oswald, not to mention five photos of Marilyn shot by the acclaimed Milton Greene. Will money buy them success?

Thai Thai

An outrageously sumptuous design matches midnight blacks against glimmering gold. Opulent but not excessive, it’s a tremendous background for dining. But is this big spender a little too in-ya-face?

Warszawa Wschodnia

A vast factory turned restaurant is the scene, with the best seats in the house ringing an island kitchen. The stars love it – well, we’ve seen Kuba Wojewodzki eating here – but do you?

In pre-war times the building housed a cinema, in later years a grubby garage and then, well, an empty ruined space. Now fully resuscitated, Winsofera looks raw and industrial, yet never cold, never severe. Do you agree?
