Polish design takes over EXPO XXI
Polish design takes over EXPO XXI
If your apartment suddenly feels like it needs a new lamp, ceramic vase, print or piece of furniture, blame Targi Rzeczy Ładnych. Warsaw’s giant celebration of contemporary Polish design returns to EXPO XXI this weekend, September 19–20.
Translating roughly as the “Fair of Pretty Things,” TRŁ has grown into one of the country’s major showcases for independent designers, makers and emerging brands. Around 350 exhibitors from across Poland will fill the hall, with everything from furniture, lighting and ceramics to posters, textiles, jewelry, books, plants and children’s design.
But the real pleasure is in wandering. TRŁ traditionally mixes established names with debuts, premieres and new collections, making it as useful for spotting what’s next in Polish design as it is for actually shopping.
And yes, arriving with no intention of buying anything is entirely possible. Leaving that way is considerably harder.
