This Sunday, Luz Maria invites Warsaw to unwind with a relaxed afternoon of Peruvian comfort food and a cumbia-driven vinyl set from DJ Cosaco, one of the city’s leading tropical selectors.
Luz Maria, the beloved Peruvian bar and restaurant hidden in the courtyard of Chmielna 21, is introducing a new Sunday tradition built around comfort food, good company, and warm, tropical sounds. Each week from 4:00 PM, the venue slows the city’s pace and invites guests to reset with a relaxed afternoon of Latin dishes, easy conversation, and a curated vinyl selection.
This edition features a special guest who has shaped Warsaw’s tropical scene for over a decade: Cosaco, also known as Kuba Kozak.
Cosaco’s musical story began in the 90s and early 2000s, when he emerged on the dancehall scene as a dancer, drawn instantly to Caribbean and tropical rhythms. He transitioned to DJing in 2011, and by 2017 he had committed to the craft full-time — not only as a performer, but also as a cultural organizer.
The pandemic led him back to his deep archive of vinyls and digital playlists, reigniting his connection to Caribbean and Latin American sounds. This return to the roots became the foundation for Laboratorio Tropical, a collective he co-founded in 2022. The group has since brought artists from Latin America and Africa to Warsaw and helped grow a new, energetic wave of tropical and global bass events across Poland.
His résumé spans major festivals such as Open’er, Biedowo Music Fest, Festiwal Niewinni Czarodzieje, Lado w Mieście, Kazimiernikejszyn, Tribalanga, and Łódź Fotofestiwal. He has appeared in venues across Warsaw, Lublin, and the Tricity region, and his international sets include shows in Colombia (Medellín and Bogotá) and Germany (Berlin).
For this Sunday’s gathering, he brings a suitcase of Colombian vinyl — with cumbia at the center.
Luz Maria’s weekly Sunday session focuses on simplicity: good food, relaxed energy, and music that eases you into the evening. Instead of looking back at Saturday night, the mood is all about what’s next — what are we eating, what are we listening to, and who are we sharing it with?
Chilaquiles — totopos, queso fresco, chipotle salsa, fried egg, pulled turkey
Lomo Saltado — Chifa-style stir-fry with beef, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, pickled potato fries
Chicharrones — crispy pork served with guacamole
Corona Extra Bucket (4+1) — promotional price
Luz Maria Chelada — house take with tequila, Corona Extra, lime & sangrita
José Cuervo Tequila — 10 PLN all day
With Cosaco at the decks, the afternoon leans into cumbia, tropical rhythms, and vinyl selections that carry the warmth of Latin America — even in a Warsaw winter.
