Discover the Inspiring Stories of 9 Women from Warsaw’s Right Bank at the Museum of Warsaw’s Praga
The exhibit “Prawobrzeżne” at the Museum of Warsaw’s Praga district, running from November 22, 2023, to July 21, 2024, honors nine women who lived on the right bank of the Vistula River in Warsaw. These women, including researchers, teachers, activists, and pioneers, pursued their unique paths while striving for independence and self-determination. Despite differing in their careers and life goals, they share common traits of ambition, courage, and a commitment to making a difference.
The exhibition showcases these women through personal artifacts, photographs, and family memorabilia, highlighting their diverse journeys and the turbulent historical periods they lived through. This display serves as a celebration of their legacies and a meditation on their roles in shaping the history of Praga.
Among the featured women are Helena Rzeszotarska, who founded a girls’ school on Praga in 1908; Maria Czaplicka, a pioneering anthropologist and ethnographer; and Hanna Hirszfeldowa, a pediatrician and researcher. The exhibition also explores the work of artists, educators, and activists who played significant roles in their respective fields.
