Summer in Warsaw comes with a beloved seasonal tradition – outdoor cinemas.
Popular among both residents and visitors, these open-air screenings are a staple of the city’s cultural calendar. This year promises a rich lineup of films and venues.
One of the main attractions this season is the LOT Summer Cinema series titled Toward the Setting Sun. Screenings take place regularly throughout the summer – every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – from June through September. The venue is the square in front of Kinoteka.
All screenings are free to attend. In the event of bad weather, the showings will be moved indoors to Kinoteka. Films begin at 9:30 PM in June and July, and at 8:30 PM in August and September — just after sunset. The outdoor cinema area opens two hours before each screening, giving visitors a chance to arrive early and claim a comfortable deckchair. Since seating is limited, early arrival is recommended. For added comfort during the evening, bringing a warm layer or a blanket is a good idea.
Warsaw offers even more opportunities to enjoy movies under the stars.
Screenings are scheduled every Friday from June until mid-August 2025, with a total of 11 free film nights. The tranquil park setting makes for a relaxing cinematic outing.
Targówek hosts open-air cinemas in six different locations, with screenings running from June through August 2025. This season includes an impressive 60 film showings. The program also features special events such as talks with actors, directors and screenwriters – all with no admission fee.
For those who prefer a more laid-back vibe, Chono Lulu Bistro & Bar offers free screenings every Tuesday from May 6 to September 30, 2025. It’s a great spot to enjoy films in a relaxed atmosphere with food and drinks available on-site.
With so much happening across the city, summer in Warsaw offers no shortage of things to do – and outdoor cinema is one of the season’s true highlights. With a wide variety of venues and a packed schedule stretching over several months, there’s something to suit every taste and timetable. Whether it’s a quiet evening in the park, a lively film night in the city center or a casual screening at a bistro, Warsaw’s open-air cinemas make it easy to find the perfect movie moment under the stars.
