On May 30, on the campus of Akademeia High School in Warsaw’s Wilanów district, the next edition of Fundraiser will take place – an initiative of the school community combining education, art and a shared commitment to helping young, talented people. The event is organized by the Akademeia High School Foundation and the school itself – an independent, international educational institution with a British curriculum, whose community is made up of students from over 25 countries.
The aim of this year’s fundraiser is to support the further education of two high school graduates who are also Akademeia scholarship holders: Julia and Zonia. Julia – a winner of a scholarship in the field of fine arts – was accepted to the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Cambridge. Zonia, a music scholarship holder who is developing in the field of musical composition, chose to study at McGill University in Canada. Both students, in addition to their high academic and artistic achievements, also demonstrate great social involvement and strong motivation for further development.
“The application process to Akademeia was a challenge for me, but also a huge inspiration. When I got into the school, I saw how many opportunities this space gives me,” says Zonia. “I work intensively on my music, but the community is equally important to me – I have friends here who are able to combine academic development with real action for the benefit of others. This is probably the greatest achievement I see in people my age.” This year’s Fundraiser will take the form of an afternoon meeting in the school’s garden and auditorium. The program will include: a fashion show and artistic workshops prepared by students, a music concert and a live art auction, hosted by the DESA Unicum auction house. The event will also be accompanied by a silent online auction, which will last from May 23 to June 3. People interested in supporting can contact the Foundation directly.
Fundraiser is an event that once again integrates the school community around the idea of world-class education available to talented and ambitious young Poles. In 2024, thanks to the fundraiser, it was possible to support two scholarship holders – Jagoda and Sofia – who are now continuing their studies at renowned foreign universities.
– Thanks to the support from Fundraiser, I was able to start my studies at the university of my dreams. This experience changed my life and opened up new opportunities for me – says Jagoda. Sofia adds: – Fundraiser was not only financial support for me, but also a symbolic gesture – proof that someone really believes in my potential.
The Akademeia High School Foundation operating at the school supports education at the highest level by financing full and partial scholarships, research grants and artistic projects. The Foundation also actively helps students obtain external funds – including from the Rafał Brzoska Foundation or the Talenty Foundation – and supports applications to the best universities in the world, such as the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University College London, Imperial College London, prestigious Ivy League universities, Bocconi University and Delft University of Technology.
The school’s scholarship program includes three categories: academic, artistic and musical. Currently, around 10 percent of Akademeia High School students benefit from full or partial scholarships, which can also cover accommodation costs. Candidates undergo a thorough selection process, based not only on results, but also on social involvement and development potential.
