Polish hammer thrower Paweł Fajdek learnt a golden lesson about moderation after a night of a celebration culminated in him giving away his gold medal to a taxi driver so as to pay his fare. Fajdek, who won gold in the World Championships held in Beijing, was reportedly seen drinking heavily after his victory and celebrating in style. However, claims have emerged that when he woke up bleary-eyed the following day his prized medal had disappeared. Some quick detective work traced it to a taxi driver who claimed that Fajdek had given it to him after being unable to pay the fare. The medal has now been returned to the Pole.
