The Smurfs
Found down south in the Powsin Botanical Garden, the labyrinth takes you through tunnels of light and even a meteor concert inside an enchanted forest. Passing through the Smurf village, visitors will run into a host of characters – including Gargamel! Prawdziwka 2, gardenoflights.com (admission PLN 1-44)
The Garden of Light sees a section of the former Royal Gardens outside Wilanów Palace illuminated by 300,000 pulsating diodes spread over a range of thematic areas. Accompanied by classical music, this kaleidoscope of colour can get very Alice in Wonderland. Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10, wilanow-palac.pl (admission PLN 20-49)
Warsaw’s most elegant park will again find itself decorated with installations of illuminated figures in period costume. With squirrels and peacocks ambling around, these make for quite a sight. Agrykola 1, lazienki-krolewskie.pl (admission free)
A million glimmering lights await in this celebration of the natural world. Representing flowery meadows, underwater depths, deep forests and the skies above, the remarkable trail also presents light sculptures of fantastical animals. Ujazdowskie 4, lumagica.pl (admission PLN 33-46)
Though the fountains will be off, drop by each Fri, Sat and Sun for coordinated music and light shows held every hour from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Skwer 1 Dywizji Pancernej (admission free)
As since the dawn of time, Warsaw’s biggest outpouring of festive joy can be found walking the ancient route of kings. Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat and Pl. Zamkowy will this year be decorated with retro style lights referencing the 1950s and will culminate outside the Royal Castle where, as per usual, will stand the tallest Christmas tree in Poland!
