Already underway, the Jazz Po Polsku ‘Around the World’ tour will see the latest generation of Polish jazz stars play over 100 concerts on four continents…
Having kicked-off in May, the project will last three years and was inspired by the travels of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, the first Pole to circumnavigate the world.
As part of the tour, over 20 countries will be visited with performers including leading artists from the independent and improv scene.
“The following year we will play mostly in Asia – China, Japan and Vietnam, but also in several European countries such as Albania, Croatia, Moldovia, Romania, Serbia, as well as in Canada,” said Jakub Krzeszowski, the founder of the project.

“In this way,” he continued, “we plan to introduce Polish jazz to various parts of the world. I truly believe that in the coming years Polish jazz will be known to audiences around the planet.”
As part of the schedule, Michał Ciesielski and Piotr Krępeć will perform during their independent tours in China, with the former also playing in Vietnam. Furthermore, the Mateusz Gawęda Trio will play in China and Japan in June; and the Piotr Lemańczyk Electric, in Canada in July.
In upcoming weeks The Flash! and the Paweł Kaczmarczyk Trio will play in Romania, while Piotr Damasiewicz Into The Roots will perform in Croatia, Unleashed Cooperation in Moldova, and Ziemia in Albania and Serbia.

The project has been inspired by the accomplishments of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, a traveller who circled the world between 1834 and 1843.
“Alongside Chopin and Curie-Skłodowska, he was one of the few who had the opportunity to see a different world in the mid-nineteenth century,” said Krzeszowski.
In a similar way, Jazz Po Polsku hopes to establish international cultural cooperation through the medium of music whilst simultaneously striving to strengthen Poland’s image abroad.
