With its endless row of Legoland apartments Urysnów might not strike you as a culinary heartland – and indeed it isn’t. But the area is slowly coming of age, with bars and restaurants gradually opening up. Launched in 2013, Mr. India is something of a veteran in local terms, not to mention a bit of a legend in the making.

Split on two levels the design is contemporary if a little characterless: leather banquettes, wood paneling. No problem though, if it looks bland then the food isn’t. That means an incredible butter chicken that’s deep and immensely satisfying. Then there’s the vindaloo, an irresistible flirtation with fire. That people who live well outside Ursynów make the effort to cross town to eat here says enough – you’ll soon see why.
