One of Warsaw Zoo’s youngest and most beloved residents is about to mark a special milestone.
On July 9th, the zoo will celebrate the first birthday of Pietruszka, the giraffe calf born last summer. The occasion promises an afternoon filled with engaging activities for both children and adults, centered around giraffes and the daily work of their keepers.
The celebration is set to take place from 12:00 to 14:00 at the Giraffe House (Żyrafiarnia). Visitors will have a unique opportunity to meet the animal care team and learn more about giraffes’ lives at the zoo. Talks will cover everything from medical training routines and nutrition to the individual personalities of the giraffe herd.
Interactive attractions are planned especially for children, including fun quizzes, coloring stations with themed illustrations and even contests with prizes! Throughout the event, guests will be able to observe Pietruszka and her herd in their spacious outdoor enclosure, offering a closer look at one of Africa’s most iconic species.
A highlight of the birthday celebration is the ceremonial serving of Pietruszka’s very own giraffe-friendly birthday cake, scheduled for 14:00. It’s a moment expected to delight audiences of all ages and create lasting memories.
The event is included with regular zoo admission, so no additional tickets are required. It’s an ideal occasion to explore the zoo while taking part in an educational and festive gathering.
Warsaw Zoo frequently hosts themed days like this one to bring visitors closer to the animal world and raise awareness about wildlife care. Events such as Pietruszka’s birthday not only celebrate the lives of individual animals but also foster a deeper appreciation for conservation efforts and the people who dedicate their lives to caring for these creatures.
