A beloved Warsaw tradition is returning to brighten the city with greenery.

A beloved Warsaw tradition is returning to brighten the city with greenery.
The seasonal event “Przygarnij Kwiatka” offers residents a chance to take home flowers that previously adorned public spaces across the capital – completely free of charge.
This special initiative invites the public to adopt decorative plants that have reached the end of their seasonal display in city flowerbeds, squares and parks. The idea is simple – rather than discarding the blooms, they are given a second life in private homes, gardens and balconies.
The spring 2025 edition of “Przygarnij Kwiatka” will take place on Wednesday, May 28, starting at 1:00 PM, at the Kamień Educational Pavilion, located at Wybrzeże Puckie 1 in Warsaw. There are no forms to fill out or conditions to meet – plants will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out.
Over the years, Warsaw has hosted various green initiatives, often involving plant giveaways in exchange for recyclables such as electronic waste. However, this event is entirely free of charge, with no exchange required. It reflects the city’s broader commitment to sustainability and environmental education.
As an added gesture, Warsaw’s educational institutions will be able to receive spring flower bulbs as a gift. Representatives of schools or preschools can collect them at the event – provided they present a valid staff ID from the registered institution. Institutions wishing to participate should submit their request to the Kamień Pavilion by Tuesday, May 27 at 2:00 PM.
The event is organized by Zarząd Zieleni, Warsaw’s municipal greenery authority, which emphasizes that no special criteria are needed to participate. Just show up and pick up a plant to give it a new home.
