Tucked behind scaffolding on ul. Górskiego, just beside E. Wedel, Dom Otwarty is the kind of gem you almost don’t want to share. Run by singer Marzena Ugorna, this Polish-Moroccan fusion spot combines the charm of a casual friend’s dinner with an atmosphere that transports you straight to the vibrant streets of Tangier.
Entering feels like stepping backstage; a set of stairs lead you up to a cozy, unpretentious dining room that feels both homey and intimate. The real magic, however, is in the food, where traditional Moroccan flavors meet subtle Polish influences. Start with the Frozen Tomato Burrata – a refreshingly original twist with grated frozen tomato, mint, and pink pepper. The creamy burrata balances perfectly with spicy caramelized pumpkin seeds, giving every bite an unexpected pop of flavor.
Another standout is the Goat Roll in Honey – a melt-in-your-mouth goat roulade paired with caramelized peach, pear, and a delicate honey drizzle. The dish is rich yet light, with a mint-coriander sauce that lends a bright, herby finish. And don’t miss the Moroccan Potatoes, served with a dollop of sour cream and coriander sauce; it’s a humble yet comforting side that echoes the restaurant’s down-to-earth appeal.
There’s also an array of Moroccan favorites, from Pastilla (a savory pastry with stewed chicken and almonds) to Tagine with lamb kofta. Polish desserts like blueberry pyzy and spelt apple pie add a comforting, familiar end to the meal.
Dom Otwarty is more than a dining experience; it’s an escape. Be warned: after a meal here, you might find yourself dreaming of a ticket to Morocco – or at least your next reservation.
