Better-known under its Polish name, Szkoły Głównej Handlowej w Warszawie (SGH), the new building will tout lecture halls, classrooms, an auditorium as well as research and office space.
However, it is the design that has merited the most attention. Combining a slew of innovative features, the PLN 85.9 million project will include a ‘green’ roof and façade as well as a range of energy-saving solutions.
To be built at Batorego 8, the structure will rise next to the legendary Stodola club. Designed by Stelmach i Partnerzy Biuro Architektoniczne, the 6,100 sq/m facility will mimic the colors of the main building of the School of Economics and will be festooned with dense vegetation and greenery.
Following in the footsteps of the University Library, the rooftop garden will also be accessible to the public and stands to become an attraction in its own right.
Noted for its ‘dynamic silhouette’ and ‘expressive architectural solutions’, the building stands to be completed within two-years of construction beginning.
