Swifties, if you’re planning to descend on Warsaw for Taylor Swift’s concert at the PGE National Stadium this August, brace yourselves—your wallet might feel the strain as much as your vocal cords. Accommodation prices in the city are soaring to dizzying heights, making your stay as memorable as the concert itself, albeit for different reasons.
Taylor Swift will grace Warsaw with her presence in early August, and fans from outside the city are facing skyrocketing accommodation costs. During the concert weekend, rental rates for apartments have surged to nearly three times what they were the weekend before. The Swift effect is in full swing!
A quick look at Airbnb listings reveals a stark contrast in prices. For example, a cozy studio for two on Puławska Street in Mokotów, which would normally cost you PLN 478/night at the end of July, shoots up to an eye-watering PLN 1,773/night during the concert weekend. That’s a staggering 270% increase, translating to PLN 3,546 for a two-night stay.
Even apartments farther from the PGE National Stadium are feeling the heat. A two-person apartment near the Ursynów metro station jumps from PLN 593/night to PLN 1,724/night, an over 190% hike Metro Line Madness
Those looking to stay along the second metro line, a convenient route to the concert, will also face steep prices. At the Metro Bemowo station, a two-person apartment’s price leaps from PLN 575/night in July to PLN 1,625/night in August, a more than 180% rise.
On the right side of the Vistula River, options are fewer but no less pricey. A one-bed apartment at Metro Szwedzka sees its rate skyrocket from PLN 603/night to PLN 2,233/night, over 270% higher. And if you’re dreaming of a stay in Praga Północ with a balcony near the Warsaw Zoo, expect to shell out PLN 6,565/night for an apartment that usually costs PLN 857/night. That’s a total of over PLN 14,000 for the concert weekend, though the host is kind enough to offer a discount.
It’s no surprise that Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” has been a financial juggernaut. Forbes recently included her in their list of billionaires, thanks largely to the success of this tour. Swift’s net worth now stands at an impressive $1.1 billion, and the “Eras Tour” has made history as the first concert tour to gross over $1 billion. Swift is the first female singer to achieve this milestone solely through her music and performances.
So, while Warsaw will be ablaze with Swiftie excitement, the cost of staying there might just leave you shaking it off. Be prepared to dig deep into your pockets, but rest assured, the memories of Taylor’s performance will be worth every zloty.
