
Poland’s most important documentary film event—and the second largest in Europe—is back! The 22nd edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity kicked off today, May 8, with gala openings at Multikino Złote Tarasy and Kinoteka in Warsaw.
Starting Friday, film lovers in Warsaw, Wrocław, Gdynia, Katowice, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, and Łódź can catch this year’s lineup of world-class documentaries.
📍 Opening Films
Coexistence, My Ass! by Amber Fares – a darkly humorous look at Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts (sold out).
Ernest Cole: A Legend Rediscovered by Oscar®-nominated Raoul Peck – Polish premiere followed by a live Q&A.
📸 The festival also launched with the moving exhibition “Ernest Cole: Photographer in Exile” at the State Ethnographic Museum (on view until August 31), alongside the Polish premiere of Peck’s film.

On Saturday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m. at the State Ethnographic Museum, join acclaimed director Mark Cousins for a playful, thought-provoking “anti-masterclass” hosted by MDAG’s Artistic Director, Karol Piekarczyk. Admission is free.
🌍 New Collaboration: FIPRESCI x MDAG
To mark its 100th anniversary, the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) launches a new partnership with MDAG. Celebrate with a special screening of Welcome to Chechnya introduced by FIPRESCI president Ahmed Shawky and followed by a Q&A with director David France.
