19–21 September 2025
Each September, Warsaw Gallery Weekend (WGW) turns the city into a map of contemporary art. From 19 to 21 September, nearly fifty exhibitions will open simultaneously across commercial galleries, independent spaces, and institutions, making this one of Poland’s most important art events of the year.
Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just curious about the city’s cultural pulse, WGW is a chance to see new work, meet artists, and experience Warsaw as a living gallery. Exhibitions often continue after the weekend, but the opening days are when energy peaks: guided tours, extended hours, and the thrill of seeing it all first.
Wojciech Fangor: Socmodernism
Olszewski Gallery, ul. Emilii Plater 11
Opening 19 September 2025
The late Wojciech Fangor, one of Poland’s most internationally recognized painters, is presented here in a rare survey of his early works from 1948–1955. Created during a time of political pressure and artistic negotiation, these canvases show Fangor grappling with socialist realism while keeping a modernist spirit alive.
Agata Bogacka: Avoidants
Gunia Nowik Gallery, ul. Bracka 20a
19 September – 8 November 2025
Bogacka’s paintings balance abstraction and intimacy, often using geometric language to explore relationships, closeness, and distance. This solo show promises new works that push her exploration of personal and political space.
Agata Słowak: Oxytocin
Fundacja Galerii Foksal, ul. Górskiego 1A
Opening 19 September 2025
Known for her figurative power and unflinching approach, Słowak stages an exhibition titled after the “bonding hormone.” Expect bold canvases that navigate intimacy, connection, and desire through raw color and form.
The Things We Buried Grow
BWA Warszawa, ul. Marszałkowska 15/17
Opening 19 September 2025
This exhibition brings together the legendary Magdalena Abakanowicz with younger artist Bartłomiej Flis. The dialogue between their practices underscores how memory, material, and the human figure continue to resonate across generations.
Lotna: Let’s Face the Truth
Lotna, ul. Solec 18/20
Opening 19 September 2025
A group show that rethinks portraiture and representation in contemporary art. From the intimate to the performative, the works question what it means to “face” one another in today’s fractured visual landscape.
With dozens of exhibitions spread across Warsaw, planning is key. Many galleries cluster around Śródmieście, Wola, and Praga, making walking routes possible. The Warsaw Gallery Weekend website
offers maps and tools to plan by location or theme.
Pro tip: Pick one neighborhood per day, and let yourself wander between galleries — often the best surprises are in the smaller, independent spaces.
Warsaw Gallery Weekend is more than a festival of openings. It’s a platform for artists to test new ideas, for galleries to push curatorial boundaries, and for audiences to engage directly with the conversations shaping Polish and international art. For many, it’s the moment that sets the tone for the cultural season ahead.
So mark your calendar for 19–21 September. Whether you see three exhibitions or thirty, you’ll be part of Warsaw’s biggest contemporary art conversation of the year.
