What makes Warsaw’s streets so magical this Christmas?
In the days leading up to Christmas, Warsaw’s streets have become a bustling hub for leisurely strolls. Residents and tourists alike have been exploring the festive scenery, from the narrow alleys of the Old Town to the vibrant Nowy Świat and Świętokrzyska Street. What’s more festive than a walk through Warsaw’s nostalgic 1950s?
The holiday decorations along the Royal Route transport visitors to the Warsaw of the 1950s and 1960s, evoking memories of icons like Agnieszka Osiecka and Stefan Wiechecki. Unique installations include retro touches such as a rotary-dial telephone, a vintage street soda machine and some iconic cars like the Warszawa and Syrena.
These nostalgic elements, combined with the dazzling lights, create a captivating blend of history and holiday magic.
Where should you stroll to soak in the holiday magic?
The holiday lights extend beyond the Royal Route to many other picturesque spots, including for example Długa Street, Piwna Street, Barbican, Multimedia Fountain Park, and the Old and New Town Squares.
On weekends, Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście transform into pedestrian zones with limited bike traffic, providing a relaxed setting for visitors to enjoy these amazing festive lights. Special pedestrian areas will also be in place on December 23rd and from December 30th to January 3rd, making it even easier to experience the holiday magic.
