A perennial Insider favorite, MOD’s flagship restaurant on Oleandrów continues to blaze a trail with its eccentric crossover of Asian / classical French cooking, but this year, it’s their new venture in Saska K. that’s really got us talking.

Shoebox in its size, it’s here you’ll find a steady queue lining up for their specialty: award-winning NYC-style donuts that transpire to be things of craft and adventure and irresistible taste. All the better for ignoring chemical nasties and mass-market shortcuts, the playful nature of MOD’s offerings is expressed via all-natural, boldly-colored toppings such as matcha, mango, black forest gateau, salted caramel or hibiscus.
“I was daydreaming during university lectures one time,” remembers co-owner Kamila, “and all I could think about was the donuts we used to eat when we lived in New York City.” By we, she means herself and Patrycja. Best friends since meeting at middle school in Chrzanów, the two have been inseparable since. “I texted her while I was sat in this class,” continues Kamila, “saying that NYC donuts were just what Warsaw needed.” Like that, an idea was born.
Brilliantly replicating the wacky flavors and artisanal production methods they’d enjoyed in the States, MOD’s success feels even more admirable for being the result of one far-fetched dream. Simply put, their new Saska-based venture can’t be ignored by our Best of Warsaw rundown!
