The weekend brought with it the bombshell news that cult eatery Solec 44 is to close at the end of December following seven years of service. With a strong reputation for challenging gastronomic norms, chef / co-owner Aleksander Baron’s obsession with old baroque recipes, nose-to-tail cooking and forgotten fermentation processes has played a key role in Poland’s food revolution.
Baron announced the decision to close in a brief Facebook statement made on Saturday. While the reason for the closure remains unclear, one thing is certain: this is not the last you’ll hear from this huge culinary talent. In the meantime, enjoy his work to the max: Solec 44 will officially bolt its doors shut on December 23rd.
