A tasty gem hidden away on Krucza…
There are not too many restaurants in the city center where you can get such quality and quantity for lunch under zł. 30, especially dishes that are good enough to make you go back again. Enter La Bàn. With two staple dishes on their lunch menu and a rotation of six to seven other dishes, they make it easy to decide which is your new favorite lunch spot.
For the first time visiting La Bàn, I would suggest trying their Pho Bò Chín. Bò Chín means ‘cooked beef,’ and “pho” actually comes from the French word “feu,” meaning fire, and is pronounced like the beginning of the English curse F**k. This Vietnamese soup originates from Northern Vietnam, and La Bàn does it right. Hearty and aromatic, their base of beef broth has the traditional tastes of charred onion, ginger, and spices like star anise, cinnamon, and cloves. Topped with a variety of fresh herbs and vegetables like basil, cilantro, fresh onions, ginger, lime wedges, and sliced chili peppers, the combination of freshness brings a burst of flavor, balancing the richness of the broth. Served with a side of Nem Thit (saigonki) done with traditional expertise of crunchy and soft textures, you will ask yourself how many times will I get into trouble at work if I leave early to have their lunch before it ends at 16:00?
